A creative creature with art in her DNA
With over 25 years of experience in the art world both in New Zealand and internationally, Clare Mora has the ability to deliver the most wonderfully curated art experiences for clients. Both with the concepts that are presented to the client but also ensuring that the journey is bespoke, and the results are personal.
Clare’s early career saw her commercialise niche handmade products into international sales. After successful exhibitions in a high-end department store ‘Ludwig Beck am Rathauseck’ in Munich, Germany, with more than 1 million people coming through an exhibition of New Zealand made creative product, she then focused on Nelson company Höglund Glass to work with them commercially and becoming an official licensee for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, as well as the 2000 Americas Cup. This enabled the growth of a company producing niche, handmade products on the international market, successfully franchising galleries in Australia, Dubai, Singapore, and NZ.
From 2005 -2017 she, utilised her international experience, founding her New Zealand design brand - essenze to the world. Gathering a cohort of more than 40 famous and up and coming New Zealand artists and designers in her essenze offering, promoting high-end New Zealand design internationally. Exhibiting at tradeshows in Milan, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Frankfurt and London, ran over 30 exhibitions in 10 countries. Unfortunately, this initiative did not survive the financial crises/global recession [2008-9], but amazing business experiences were learned.
Clare is recognised as an expert in art retailing and developing/mentoring NZ craftspeople/artists locally and internationally, resulting in sales. She mentored internationally renowned designer David Trubridge helping to crack the US market and was fundamental to his breakthrough as well as other artists.
Over the years and in positions varying from wholesales agent, consultant, export and franchise manager, she has gained significant knowledge and experience in exporting creative contemporary design products internationally. With experience in exhibitions - from trade fairs, art exhibitions and large-scale sales exhibitions in leading department stores through to curated gallery exhibitions. Clare has displayed the ability to lead visionary projects, resulting in business success.
For the last 10 years, Clare has been settled in Auckland, giving her son stability through school, while running her consultation business – Creative Business Studio. CBS has supported NZ businesses to leverage into the international market using her expertise, contacts and understanding of converting handmade into manufactured volumes. She also co-owns an Art Gallery in Matakana.
So, what does Clare bring to Artful Curation?
Clare is in charge of “where the magic happens”, and it is magic.
She will take any space [home, office, bach, art exhibition] and transform the environment into a beautifully curated experience with paintings, sculptures and objects both in the interior and exterior [garden]. This is a creative talent, not a “job”.
But part of this “magic” is taking the client/family on a holistic and bespoke journey where their interests and architectural/interior design requirements are carefully incorporated into the solution, their input included every step of the way. It’s the customised journey which results in such a personally curated outcome, and happy clients.
